The final concert of the Festival Academy is at the same time the high point of the chamber music week. The grant recipients and their mentors have any number of intensive rehearsals, workshops, discussions and concerts behind them and assemble here for a long night of chamber music. The first part of the concert is reserved for the young performers, who will be presenting selected items from the Open Stage concerts to as wider audience. Virtuosity and sheer delight in the music are on the cards. The second part brings together two exceptional pianists. Igor Levit, spiritus rector of the Chamber Music Academy will be joining composer Frederic Rzewski (himself a noted pianist) for a variety of four-hand piano works. Part three is given over to that eternal chamber-music charmer Dvorak’s mature A major piano quintet op. 81 in a performance by a mixed team of youngsters and mentors. After that, the audience is very cordially invited to meet the performers and see the evening out in style.
