Chamber Music Festival »Standpunkte«

Setting out, leaving home, breaking with old habits means entering into an intriguing exchange with everything around you: culture and nature, other people, spaces, buildings, landscapes, animals, possibly even the stars in the sky. Dialogue is the place where people and things reveal their true natures. Being on the move is the precondition for dialogue.

Igor Levit has made dialogue the principle on which his activities are based. Three very different pianists – Levit himself, Marc-André Hamelin, Markus Becker – define the terms of reference. The numerous concert programmes are built around encounters: the old and the new, the formality of classical music and the freedoms of jazz (or is it the other way round?), East and West, tradition and innovation, composition and improvisation, words and music.
