Canceled: Streichquartettfest | Wettbewerb der Irene Steels-Wilsing Stiftung

Attention change: Unfortunately, the competition of the Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation on January 20th from 09.30 a.m. has to be cancelled. Due to the different entry, exit and quarantine regulations from country to country, equal and fair competitive conditions cannot be guaranteed for all of the 8 young international string quartets. The competition will be moved to the Heidelberger Frühling music festival 2023.

We are pleased about the renewed cooperation with the string quartet competition of the Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation, which takes place every two years and is aimed at young European string quartets. It will be held for the sixth time in 2022. Eight quartets are invited who have qualified through a pre-selection via (live) recordings. On the one hand, the invited quartets have the opportunity to freely choose what they want to play and, on the other hand, they are obliged to have a conversation following the prelude, in which the respective needs and goals of the ensembles are discussed. The only requirement in this competition of the Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation season is that at least one work by Wolfgang Rihm must be prepared. A five-person jury then decides on the prizes - the first winner will be invited to participate in the 2023 String Quartet Festival.

Free entry. Registration requested at 06221 584 00 44 or tickets@heidelberger-fruehling.de.

Please inform yourself about the current Corona regulations and our hygiene regulations before attending the concert.
