MOVED TO 10 A.M.: Streichquartettfest | JACK Quartet

Attention change: The concert with the JACK Quartet has been postponed to 10 a.m., while the workshop with Oliver Wille (originally at 10 a.m.) does not start until 11.30 a.m.

The avant-garde of yesteryear meets experimental newer music in the New York JACK Quartet. In the vocal works from the 15th and 16th centuries that were adapted for the strings, the rhythmic complexity (Rodericus), the use of micro-intervals (Vicentino) and the bold chromatic harmony movement (Solage) are surprising. In his string quartet »Memento Mori« from 1992, the American John Zorn mixes disparates into an almost half-hour-long kaleidoscope-like collage, while Wolfgang Rihm in his quartet »Im Innersten« (1976) comes up with a soundscape interspersed with shredded musical memories.
