The Classic Scouts are same-age guides to the world of classical music for young people between 14 and 20. The Scouts do introductions to concerts, meet performers at rehearsals, and write articles for the Classic Scouts Journal published by the local Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung newspaper. They accompany newcomers to their first concerts and organise the legendary Evening with the Classic Scouts which they moderate themselves, contributing performances of their own into the bargain (20 April). In the meantime, London’s famous Gresham Centre has also started cooperating with the prize-winning Heidelberg Scouts project. The musical »outreachers« from the British capital have already been to Heidelberg for two joint ventures, and in late 2017 a number of Scouts will be traveling to London to soak up some on-the-spot inspiration from the Gresham Centre and take part in its festival. Back in Heidelberg they’ll be putting their heads together to turn their latest impressions to account for new projects.
