The Heidelberger Frühling Liedzentrum is awarding up to 12 scholarships for the Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie under the artistic direction of Thomas Hampson for the 2026/27 season.
The one-year support programme is aimed at outstanding young classical singers and pianists who wish to specialize in the Lied genre. It comprises four modules in Heidelberg and Berlin.
The focus is on the master classes with artistic director and main lecturer Thomas Hampson and renowned co-lecturers. Here, the young singers and pianists are trained in vocal technique, song design and interpretation. Over the course of the academy year, they develop an extensive repertoire and develop theirown artistic vision and voice. The close exchange and collaboration between the singers and pianists of the academy year encourages creativity and team spirit.
The young artists perform at the Heidelberger Frühling Musikfestival and Liedfestival as well as during the Schubert Week at the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin in public master classes and concerts, some of which feature specially curated programmes. Some of these performances are broadcast live and reach an international audience.
The supporting programme is dedicated to the professionalization of the participants. In workshops, coaching sessions and discussion formats, they work on topics such as concert program planning, career management and mental training.
Get-togethers, joint concert visits and encounters with established artists on the scene enable the scholarship holders to make lasting contacts and benefit from the dense network of the Heidelberger Frühling Liedzentrum.
