"Back Forward", the festival motto for 2026, raises the question of the extent to which the art practised in the Konzerthaus Stadthalle, especially the "classical" music associated with a very specific historical and cultural context, can continue to provide us with standards, perhaps even values, for tolerant coexistence. And at the same time for an education that can meet the immense challenges of the present and the near future. Three politically educated contemporaries, who have experienced how decisive targeted support was for their own personal development and have long been committed to a fairer world, reflect on their own origins and show ways forward. Igor Levit performs early music by Johann Caspar von Kerll and more recent music by Bill Evans.
