Kobekina. Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Peltokoski
Reunion with Shostakovich

Tarmo Peltokoski has been Principal Guest Conductor of Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen since 2022 and is the first person to hold this position since the orchestra was founded. What is even more remarkable is that the Finn is only 24 years old and is one of the world's greatest talents on the podium. Peltokoski will conduct Beethoven's 4th Symphony, which is almost relaxed in comparison to its two sister works, the 3rd and 5th. With cellist Anastasia Kobekina, another expressive talent takes to the stage: the Russian, who was already a guest at last year's "Frühling" with an acclaimed concert, will play Shostakovich's Cello Concerto in E flat major.

A public rehearsal for children is offered for this concert. Further information and free tickets are available here.

#14 Genau jetzt – Anastasia Kobekina on Shostakovich's Cello Concerto in E flat major
16. 1. 2025   Podcast

Like Dmitri Shostakovich, Anastasia Kobekina was born in Russia. Does that play a role when she plays his 1st Cello Concerto as a soloist? The work was created in 1959, shortly after Stalin's death. Anastasia Kobekina and host Thilo Braun explain how the regime of terror can be felt in music. They talk about the nervousness of the sounds that pervades the cello concerto like death panic, detect hidden messages and puzzle over why Shostakovich quotes Stalin's favorite song at the end.
