Aynur

Note: The concert has been postponed to 20:00 for logistical reasons!
Aynur Doğan is considered the voice of Kurdistan par excellence. Born in 1975 in an eastern Anatolian village into a Kurdish-Alevi family, she was given a Turkish first name and moved with her family to Istanbul in the early 1990s, where she finished high school and came into contact with music for the first time. She quickly became famous; Yo-Yo Ma took her on tour with his Silk Road Ensemble. With her characteristically powerful and poetic voice, Aynur sings traditional Kurdish songs and her own compositions, sometimes powerful and full of temperament, sometimes soft and elegiac. She is accompanied by an outstanding sextet of international musicians on traditional and western instruments.
