Chiaroscuro Quartet

The leading historically informed string quartet ensemble playing on gut strings and led by soloist Alina Ibragimova is back: after its acclaimed debut last year with the Beethoven Quartet op. 130, the Chiaroscuro Quartet continues its exploration of the revolutionary late chamber music of the classic composer. The programme includes his opus 132 with the "Holy song of thanksgiving of a convalescent to the deity" – one of his most personal and touching compositions. The enormous development of four-part instrumental music up to Beethoven is demonstrated by the Chiaroscuro Quartet with the "Fantasia cromatica" by the Renaissance master Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and a contribution by Joseph Haydn - the "father" of the string quartet.
