Christina Landshamer. Alexander Fleischer
Marienleben

"Das Marienleben" is perhaps the greatest vocal cycle ever written, Glenn Gould once said. In 1922/23, Paul Hindemith set Rilke's poem cycle of the same name to music, which clothed the life of Jesus' mother from her birth to her death in visionary language. Together with Alexander Fleischer, Lied pianist from Passion and founder of various Liedfestivals, Christina Landshamer takes on the full-length work in the arranged version from 1948. The soprano, who feels "always at home with Bach", is just as close to Hindemith's neoclassical tonal language, in which polyphony, formal rigor and bright, transparent sonority merge.
