Giorgi Gigashvili
Behind the Mirrors

For the young Georgian Giorgi Gigashvili, it is easy to concentrate on his career as a classical pianist while at the same time pursuing his passion for stylistically experimental and electronic music. He proved this two years ago when he was a guest at the Heidelberger Frühling Musikfestival with a classical piano recital and his band project "Georgia on my mind". In 2025, the talented free spirit returns to Heidelberg with a program that has it all: Starting with Ravel's mystical "Miroirs" cycle and the dreamlike and emotionally gripping "Postlude" by Josef Bardanashvili, Gigashvili ventures into the very physical Piano Sonata No. 6 by Galina Ustvolskaya and Prokofiev's first of his three so-called "War Sonatas".

The concert is part of the Music Prize of the Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft, which was awarded to Giorgi Giashvili in 2024. He convinced the jury with his extraordinary stage presence, his musicality and his solo performance. In addition to prize money, the coveted prize includes the Kulturkreis tour with opportunities to perform at renowned partner festivals, including Heidelberger Frühling Musikfestival .
