Goldscheider. Guarrera. Festivalcampus-Ensemble
Horn Metamorphoses

In 2024 he caused a sensation with Brahms and Ligeti. Ben Goldscheider is now returning to Heidelberg with a programme that is rich in references. The selection of works illuminates not only the timbre and flair of his instrument, but also its symbolic ambiguity. Jörg Widmann's "Air" is an aria made of air. Fascinating illusions of proximity and distance are created using series of natural tones. Mozart's horn quintet, rarely heard in concert, and his best-known concerto for the instrument stand for the emancipation of the horn player as a soloist. But it is not far from Schumann's French horn romanticism to Widmann's sadistic hunt - and to Mark Simpson's nocturnal shiver.

There will be a public rehearsal for this concert at 11:00. Further information and free tickets are available here.
