Dreaming and Remembering

Late evening in the occupied house: remembrance, memory and bridging temporal gaps - these are the themes of this cross-cultural programme. Gustav Mahler's "Adagietto" conveys the painful longing for the unattainable past - as densely and intensely as only music can. At the beginning of the 21st century, Lera Auerbach seeks a dialog with Giovanni Pergolesi's poignant funeral music from 1736. And Golfam Khayam, the Iranian composer, has written a double concerto for violin and voice commissioned by O/Modernt, which subtly mediates between East and West, making the oral tradition so crucial to Persian literature and music artistically fruitful. Haleh Seyfizadeh, the vocal artist, is one of the most fascinating border crossers between traditional music, improvisation and contemporary composition

The concert is part of a temporary "Hausbesetzung": Hugo Ticciati and his highly acclaimed chamber orchestra O/Modernt are moving into the new Stadthalle concert hall in Heidelberg for three days. This residency comprises five very different formats with highly exciting soloists and is one of the ensemble's first major residencies outside Sweden.
