Hausbesetzung 5

The circle is complete. The final concert of the O/Modernt residency returns from the USA to Europe - on the trail of the boldest musical ideas since the 16th century. Nico Muhly, the composer born in Vermont in 1981, has rearranged movements by two English Renaissance masters for Hugo Ticciati and his ensemble. The violin concerto from 2019 generates gripping musical narratives from simple intervallic constellations. Just how risky Joseph Haydn and his pupil Beethoven were already operating around 1800 can be experienced in the second half of the concert. The fact that the "Farewell" is not at the end this time, but prepares Beethoven's wildest adventure ever, is certainly an optimistic signal.

Who am I? Festival artist Hugo Ticciati asks himself this question at every concert. On stage with his ensemble O/Modernt, he undertakes journeys of self-discovery. To do so, he combines styles and spiritual ideas to create a great togetherness. In the podcast for the way home, he talks about buzzing excitement, cosmic energy and vulnerability.
