Jerusalem Quartet
Bright Sun, Long Shadows

The Jerusalem Quartet has now been in existence for 30 years - an ensemble that combines a warm, full sound with analytical penetration of the scores and has always maintained the very highest instrumental standard. Time and again, the four men from Israel dedicate themselves to cyclical complete performances of the quartet works of great composers, which are performed in major music centers around the world. At the moment, to mark the 50th anniversary of the master's death, Dmitri Shostakovich's 15 works are on the programme. In Heidelberg, the only two-movement 12th Quartet in D flat major from 1968 will be combined with one of Haydn's most popular quartets and a new piece by Israeli composer Šûlammît Ran (*1949).
