Kim. Aurora Orchestra. Collon: Fantastique – 30 Jahre Heidelberger Frühling

Information

The Aurora Orchestra invites you to an evening where the usual distance between the stage and the audience disappears. What looks like a traditional orchestral concert turns out to be something more intimate. The orchestra performs from memory and while standing. It is considered the first orchestra in the world to perform entire symphonies in this manner.

The guest soloist is Bomsori Kim—her first name, unique in Korea, means “sound of spring.” She will perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, which contemporaries deemed unplayable. Nicholas Collon, who founded the orchestra in 2005 as a student, opens the score of Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique” and transforms the feverish dream into a lively conversation.

A Q&A session with the artist will take place following the concert.

On the previous day, April 11, at 4 PM, the DAI Heidelberg invites you to the Musical Sunday, offering an introduction to Berlioz’s "Symphonie fantastique".

In conjunction with the concert, an interactive orchestra program is offered for school classes starting in 10th grade. For more information, click here
