Liedakademie
Closing Panel
American Song - Home(s) in Lied

Forms of "home" can be experienced directly in song; this experience takes on a special depth, especially in the Liedakademie, where young artists often explore and cultivate art song as an artistic home of choice beyond their own origins. In this panel, scholarship holders will discuss with Thomas Hampson, Günter Leypoldt and Christiane Wiesenfeldt how their engagement with song changes their ideas of home(s) when they themselves become part of this history by singing, listening and interpreting it.

The closing panel marks the end of the theme day "American Song - Heimat(en) im Lied", which emerged from the collaboration with the Collaborative Research Center "Heimat(en)" at Heidelberg University and opens up a space for thinking and listening in which questions of home and musical self-positioning in the USA are up for discussion.
