Liedakademie

The final concert of the Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie is the highlight of the Liedfestival and the crowning glory of a week full of song experiences. And it marks the final highlight of a packed Lied Academy year for 13 scholarship holders who have been selected from hundreds of applications from singers and pianists from all over the world. Four work phases in Heidelberg with Artistic Director Thomas Hampson and guest lecturers such as Susan Manoff have been behind them since October. Here, the young songwriters were trained in vocal technique, song design and interpretation. Over the course of the academy year, they have developed an extensive repertoire and their own artistic vision. This evening offers the opportunity to admire the fruits of their work on the big stage in the Konzerthaus Stadthalle!
The Liedakademie’s closing concert will be recorded in audio and video.
The resulting recording is an important component of the Liedakademie’s comprehensive support program: In addition to the master classes—which are central to the participants’ musical development—the supporting program is dedicated to helping participants advance their professional careers. Through coaching sessions and workshops, topics such as concert program planning, career management, and physical and mental training are explored. There are courses on poetry, speech coaching, program dramaturgy, and writing compelling artist biographies, as well as a professional photo shoot. The high-quality video production of the final concert also provides all scholarship recipients, following the academic year, with audio-visual “calling cards” that are indispensable as presentation tools and application materials for the next steps in their careers.
We would like to thank Christiane Wegner and Jörg Kellermann-Wegner for their kind support of the recording
