What roles should venues like the Konzerthaus Stadthalle play in the future? In the “Lounges” —the discussion series held during the festival weekends—guests from the worlds of culture and academia explore the festival’s theme, “Back Forward.” The audience is invited to participate in the discussion that follows.

Lydia Grün taught as a professor of music education at the Detmold University of Music and was an expert on the Council for Cultural Education before becoming President of the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts in 2022, which had previously been rocked by several scandals. One of her key topics is participation and diversity in the cultural sector in times of social radicalization. Inspired by the sociologist Aladin El-Mafaalani, Grün advocates patiently negotiating the free spaces and boundaries of "open" institutions.
