Magdalena Kožená. Daniele Caminiti
Music for a While

The renowned Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená expresses her love of early and contemporary music in her recital with the sensitive lutenist Daniele Caminiti. Early Baroque classics from England and Italy can be heard, including Henry Purcell's world-famous lament "When I am laid in Earth" and an aria by Venetian singer and composer Barbara Strozzi. Brett Dean's "Gertrude Fragments" from 2016, based on Shakespeare, imaginatively transposes the Baroque expressive gestures of voice and lute into our present day. And in Luciano Berio's virtuoso "Sequenza III", Kožená proves that she can present unique music theater with her voice even without any accompaniment.
