This all-star formation already caused a storm of enthusiasm at the opening of the Heidelberger Frühling Musikfestival 2026 in the Konzerthaus Stadthalle. The Monet Quintet is made up of soloists from renowned German symphony orchestras, including the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and the NDR Radiophilharmonie. As their namesake, the painter Claude Monet, suggests, they are particularly interested in delicate timbres - and in this programme, which "practically only consists of encores" (bassoonist and arranger Theo Plath), they really do show all the timbres and facets of their repertoire. The spectrum ranges from French gems to Slavic dances, klezmer and tango nuevo to groovy samba.
