Forgetting the time together like in an amphitheater - where better to do this than playing games, or for us adults, playing music. This is possible for music enthusiasts with and without previous knowledge in a "Tune Learning" session with Gregor Schulenburg. Here, folk melodies from different regions of the world are learned by ear and sung and played together.

In the story, when Momo is led by Master Hora to the place where her own lifetime begins, she hears a "roar of countless sounds that constantly rearranged themselves, changed and constantly formed different harmonies". This unique power of our voice to make our body vibrate is the focus of the cluster singing workshop with Marion Haak-Schulenburg. Previous knowledge is not required. This Music Swap Lab workshop invites you to explore music playfully and through your own movement. Under the guidance of Carmen Scarano, they will dance to the music that will also be played later in the joint concert with members of the orchestra, so that everyone who wants to can not only listen to the music, but also take part in the concert with the movements they have learned. Previous knowledge is not required.

Inspired by Beppo the street sweeper from Momo, who does his work step by step and finds contentment in the moment, this music meditation directs our focus entirely to the here and now. Gregor Schulenburg brings Honkyoko pieces from the ancient Zen tradition of the deep Kyotaku flutes (Japanese bamboo flutes) and guides us in letting them have an effect on us. It is important to start on time together.

Anyone who has made a drum-o-phone or a balloon-o-phone at the Music Swap Lab's craft station or who wants to explore the groove in pot lids, whisks, lunch boxes etc. is in the right place here. Together with drummer Daniel Jakobi, they explore sounds, find rhythms and groove together. Later, the rhythms can be played in concert with musicians from the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.

Whether beginner or professional - everyone who has an instrument with them, would like to try their hand at percussion or has attended the dance or percussion workshop is invited to get to know Johann Strauss' energetic Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka with members of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. At 14:00 there will then be an opportunity to play the piece in concert with the orchestra. The sheet music in various levels of difficulty will be available for anyone interested at the Music Swap Lab's craft station during the Music Day. For the curious, they will be available on the project website from March 1, 2025.

As in Momo's amphitheater, everyone gathers in the large hall at this point of the day. Members of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen invite you to a joint concert. Those who have taken part in preparatory workshops are invited to play along; everyone else can listen and take part. The Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka by Johann Strauss is played together. What else will be heard remains a surprise.

Dancing Balfolk is like playing folk music. Melodies and rhythms go straight to the body. Tunes are mostly dance melodies, which is why there is a preparatory dance workshop beforehand for the HeidelTUNES final concert of the Music Day. Workshop leader Regina Nabeotzki invites all curious people with or without previous experience to take part.

Can it go away? No! You can make a balloon-o-phon & drum-o-phon out of old packaging material, paper cups, a perforated balloon, clothespins and much more. The instruments are used in the percussion workshop and in the Music Swap Lab orchestra.

If you need a moment's peace and quiet or would like to get to know the magic of Momo's world better, you can retreat to the seminar room among the books. Of course, we also read aloud so that the younger ones can listen.

What is behind the title "Music Swap Lab"? This educational offer from the Deutsche Kammphilharmonie Bremen enables children to make music together using simple means. The successful and award-winning digital project is coming to Heidelberg on Music Day. The workshops taking place are related to the current round of the digital Music Swap Lab orchestra.
