Che ... Tango!
“The expressiveness of this album is so warm and spot-on that no one should spend the winter without it,” raved the British magazine *Gramophone* in 2015 about the duo’s recording featuring Swiss cellist Nadège Rochat and her guitar-playing colleague from Málaga, Rafael Aguirre. However, the duo’s spirited music is likely an even better fit for balmy summer nights. When they met more than ten years ago, it quickly became clear that they were united not only by their mastery of their instruments and a similar musical sensibility, but also by their love for the elegiac and passionate classics of the Spanish and Argentine repertoires. None of the pieces in the programme are performed in their original versions. Yet the duo’s elegant arrangements and subtle phrasing instantly dispel all Andalusian clichés.
