Poiesis Quartett

Another dynamic young string quartet rounds out the “Kammermusik +” subscription series. The American Poiesis Quartet recently won what is perhaps the most prestigious string quartet competition of all—the Banff International String Quartet Competition in Canada—and has since been hailed as a rising star on the scene; this marks their first appearance in Heidelberg. The evening culminates in Ludwig van Beethoven’s last completed work. The music world will commemorate the 200th anniversary of his death in 2027; in his late quartets in particular, he achieved an unprecedented musical depth and density that no composer has come close to matching for a long time. In addition to Maurice Ravel’s richly textured contribution, the programme also features two contemporary works, to which the Poiesis Quartet has always been deeply committed.
