Music performance about time for the I and time for the We

Sometimes we need distance from people and things in order to find ourselves (again). Sometimes also time for ourselves to be able to enter into a new relationship.

Percussionist Tamara Kurkiewicz and Festivalcampus-Ensemble co-curator Hans Greve trace these processes of saying goodbye, self-care and rediscovery in their concert performance. In Maurice Ravel’s duo sonata, violin and cello enter into a playful conversation, while Beethoven’s "Les Adieux" sonata expresses the pain and joy of farewell and reunion. With works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Billie Eilish and their own unusual artistic ideas, the musicians shed light on the ambivalent aspects of introspection and invite their audience to do the same. And when Maurice Ravel’s piano music concludes by making our thoughts rock like boats over the waves of the sea, with a little luck our own inner boat will also find its way home.

The CHAPEL in Heidelberg’s Südstadt district is a must in the re:start-programme. Several special concert evenings with young musicians and ensembles have already taken place in the former chapel of the US armed forces, made possible by CHAPEL Raum für Stadtkultur e.V. and the commitment of volunteers from the Heidelberg-Südstadt district association.
