re:start

Sleeps a song in all things...
Songs accompany people at all times and in all places: as lullabies, folk songs, prayers, love songs or memories. They connect people, tell stories and carry personal experiences.
In the re:start concert in the Christuskirche, young musicians from the Heidelberg University of Church Music and the Karlsruhe University of Music, together with other artists from the Heidelberger Frühling Liedfestival, bring this diversity to life. You can experience art songs, folk song arrangements, improvisations and hymns - with music from yesterday to today, from F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy, J. Brahms, C. Schumann to V. Miškinis and J. Runestad.
In the run-up to the festival, students from both universities were already searching for clues with various groups from Heidelberg's Weststadt district: in schools, daycare centers, retirement homes and neighborhoods. What songs do people carry within them? Which melodies remind us of childhood, comfort, community or special moments in life? When do people sing and why? The starting point was always the song as something deeply human and unifying and as an occasion to meet and share memories. Many of these very personal stories, memories and songs flow into the concert program in various forms. A diverse musical afternoon from the Weststadt, with songs, voices and stories from very different walks of life.
People from the Weststadt and from all over Heidelberg, festival audiences and the curious are invited to experience this musical meeting place before, during and after the concert - and perhaps even sing a note or two themselves.
