Samuel Hasselhorn. Ammiel Bushakevitz
Schubert 200. Light and Shadow

Two outstanding singers of their generation – long-time regulars in Heidelberg – delve deep into Franz Schubert's final creative years. To mark the anniversary of the composer's death in 2028, they have launched the "Schubert 200" project. The second of a total of five programmes, which will also be released on CD, deals with the years 1824/25. In his late 20s, the restlessly productive Viennese master experiences an existential personal crisis - and finally celebrates artistic success: "Light and Shadow". The extremes are also directly opposed in the stirring songs of this period.

In the three-part SWR-Kultur series on the project, the two musicians explain why Schubert's music is still so deeply moving 200 years after it was composed.

Pieces of Schubert - Schubert's songs and our time

In the three-part SWR-Kultur program on the occasion of their CD project "Schubert 200", Samuel Hasselhorn and Ammiel Bushakevitz present excerpts from Schubert's songs that are particularly close to their hearts and link them to a personal object - the "Piece". They build surprising bridges to the present day and show why Schubert's music is still moving even 200 years after it was composed.
