Thibaut Garcia
Moon over Paraguay

At the age of 30, the Toulouse-born Frenchman of Spanish descent is already one of the top international guitarists. Why this is the case can be seen from a series of impressive recordings: Beyond the stupendous manual perfection, it is Garcia's lyrical sensibility that lends his playing its quasi-narrative eloquence. His current programme is dedicated to the rich oeuvre of the Paraguayan composer and virtuoso Agustín Barrios Mangoré, whose wonderful music, still little known outside of the narrower scene, is inspired by the romanticism of the European piano masters of the 19th century.
