Augustin Hadelich is unfortunately unable to perform the solo recital due to illness.

With the young violist Timothy Ridout, a top-class stand-in could be won over, who already impressed at last year's festival.

Due to the change of cast, the programme will also change.

A big thank you to Timothy Ridout, who spontaneously agreed to take on the solo recital. The British violist, whom Igor Levit simply describes as “exceptional,” has it all: beautiful tone, technique, charisma, and expressiveness. Some of you may have seen him during his brilliant performance with pianist Frank Dupree at last year’s festival.
Shortly before embarking on a tour of Asia, he has put together an intense and moving programme for us in a very short time. As with Augustin Hadelich, the program also includes Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D minor.
Timothy Ridout trained at the Royal Academy of Music and the Kronberg Academy and won first prize at the Lionel Tertis and Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competitions. In addition, he has performed in renowned concert halls such as Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Alice Tully Hall in New York, as well as with leading artists such as Isabelle Faust, Janine Jansen, Kian Soltani, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. He plays a viola by Peregrino di Zanetto (1565–75).
