CHANGE OF LINE-UP AND PROGRAM: Simon Höfele & Frank Dupree Trio

Program and cast change: Unfortunately, trumpeter Simon Höfele injured himself at short notice and cannot perform. The Frank Dupree Trio turns the concert into a pure jazz trio evening.

Pianist and founder of the trio Frank Dupree calls the newly arranged evening a highly topical "concert of the times", because there are now five works by the Ukrainian jazz composer Nikolai Kapustin on the program. Born in eastern Ukraine in 1938, he lived and worked in Moscow, where he died in 2020. Kapustin and his work stand for cosmopolitanism and stylistic diversity in music - beyond thinking in any pigeonhole.

The Frank Dupree Trio already worked intensively with the composer when working on the CD "Blueprint", which was released earlier this year. The improvisations on "Le Sacre du Printemps" by Igor Stravinsky remain in the program. The Variations op. 41 are a homage to Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre Du Printemps and thus build a bridge to another concert with Frank Dupree in the »Standpunkte«. Complementary works by Duke Ellington and George Gershwin will be heard.

The concert introduction at 6.45 p.m. is cancelled. Instead, Frank Dupree will moderate this evening. After the concert, the Classic Scouts of the Heidelberg Spring will conduct an artist talk with the Frank Dupree Trio (Frank Dupree - piano, Jakob Krupp - double bass, Meinhard "Obi" Jenne - drums).
