One month before the start of the Heidelberger Frühling Musikfestival 2024, four special concert events kicked off the festival at Hotel Der Europäische Hof Heidelberg.

Between February 16 and 18, 2024, the Heidelberger Frühling artists' hotel hosted four concert events in an intimate setting, where the performers could not only be experienced on stage, but also in an informal atmosphere between performances.

Veronika Eberle, a regular guest soloist at "Frühling" for many years, brought her string trio to Heidelberger Frühling. The violinist, whose recording of the Beethoven Violin Concerto with London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle recently attracted international attention, is considered one of the outstanding interpreters of the music of the Viennese Classical period. Together with the French violist Adrien La Marca and the Dutch cellist Quirine Viersen, she created three programs that focused on some of the most beautiful string trio compositions.

They were accompanied by the young pianists Mert Yalniz and Dongping Wang, both master students of Igor Levit. The lecture with music presented by Heidelberg musicologist Prof. Christiane Wiesenfeldt together with Yalniz and Wang at the keys gave an exciting preview of the Brahms focus at the Musikfestival: it was about the arrangements for piano four hands that Johannes Brahms himself made of his choral and orchestral works and which he himself regarded as "second originals" of equal value.
