Discover Lied in all its diversity!
In June, the Heidelberger Frühling Liedfestival promotes those who think the song forward in a creative way and keep breaking new ground. The Liedfestival pursues the mission of presenting the genre in a wide variety of formats and offering a platform for experimental and unconventional concepts and forms of performance.
There are guest performances, but also numerous in-house productions by the Liedzentrum such as the Lied.LABs. And the Liedakademie 's year-round support program under the artistic direction of Thomas Hampson will hold its final work phase of the season during the festival - with public master classes in front of an audience and concerts by the current scholarship holders.
From June 8 to 16, the Liedfestival 2024 immersed itself in the world of Johannes Brahms' songs under the motto "Brahms and the Disorder of Songs". The festival comprised 26 events, including innovative formats such as a Lied.LAB and a musical museum tour, song recitals with renowned vocal artists such as Sarah Maria Sun, Erika Baikoff and Florian Boesch as well as up-and-coming young talents such as Konstantin Krimmel and Tae Hwan Yun. In addition, the current scholarship holders of the Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie were able to experience public masterclasses and the final concert in their final working phase with Thomas Hampson. The Liedfestival opened with a "Liedfestival for all" with free admission on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz in front of the Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg.
The next edition of the Heidelberger Frühling Liedfestival will take place from May 24 to June 1, 2025.
