A pilgrimage site for string quartet fans worldwide

Every January, the Heidelberger Frühling Streichquartettfest invites audiences to take a deep dive into the fascinating world of the string quartet. With its focus on the “crown jewel” of chamber music, it is regarded as a unique gathering place for artists, music enthusiasts, and the curious. Young ensembles meet experienced groups, and musical discoveries give way to personal exchanges. Workshops and lectures complement the concerts and open up further avenues to the fascination of the string quartet.

Festival edition 2027

Ludwig van Beethoven takes center stage at the 2027 edition of the festival. To mark the premiere of the Streichquartettfest at the reopened Konzerthaus Heidelberg, this musical journey through all 16 string quartets highlights just how significant and groundbreaking Beethoven was for the development of the genre. The Belcea Quartet and the Quatuor Ébène—two of the leading string quartets of our time—will be performing. At the same time, the festival will showcase young, up-and-coming quartets waiting to be discovered.

Advance ticket sales begin on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 10 a.m. Members of the Freundeskreis enjoy an exclusive two-week pre-sale period and can purchase tickets as early as Monday, October 5, 2026.
