That was the Streichquartettfest 2026!
250 years after American independence, the 2026 edition of the festival focused on American string quartet compositions that have significantly shaped the genre in recent decades – and back to Joseph Haydn, who founded the form around the same time 250 years ago.
Young ensembles and established quartets – including the Fibonacci Quartet, the Javus Quartet, the Kleio Quartet, the Quartet Integra and the Schumann Quartet – performed.
The next edition is expected to take place from January 20 to 24, 2027 at the Konzerthaus Stadthalle Heidelberg. The programme will be published on 29 September 2026.
