This is where the Lied scene of tomorrow meets. With its Lied Academy, the International Music Festival Heidelberger Frühling offers a place of inspiration for the most professional singers and pianists from all over the world. What was still limited to a few days per year in 2011, is already being extended to the stages of the international network through several master classes and residencies. Artistic director Thomas Hampson promotes the actors of the Lied individually and provides them with further training. The work on the repertoire basically combines questions of vocal technique with aspects of interpretation, historical contexts and contemporary performance. The Lied is rediscovered and explored in all its facets. In discussions, workshops and master classes in collaboration with international mentors and guest lecturers, the unique dialogue of text and setting is made audible and tangible for artists and audiences. The Lied Academy is a common place of learning, where exchange and openness has been created. It is a germ cell of enthusiasm for the Lied, a think tank where, far away from the everyday life, thought is given to the genre and its needs. The Lied Academy is a platform for the Lied enthusiasts of tomorrow, or those who want to become one.
