The Aula of Alte Universität Heidelberg, redesigned in 1886 in the neo-Renaissance style, is one of the main venues of the Heidelberger Frühling for chamber music and song. The Aula is located in the Baroque building of the Alte Universität, which was built between 1712 and 1735 and is itself situated in the middle of Heidelberg's Old Town. Even today, the Aula with its excellent acoustics is the main representation room of Heidelberg University. The opulently decorated hall is adorned with portraits and busts of its most important scholars from the early days to the 19th century, including the chemist Robert Bunsen and the physicist Hermann von Helmholtz.
