What is the Streichquartettfest?

Every year in January, lovers of the special musical genre of the string quartet come together in Heidelberg. You can expect a carefully and lovingly selected programme and a great density of concerts, lectures, workshops, readings and more.

The Heidelberger Frühling Streichquartettfest stands for intensive encounters between international quartets, selected artistic guests and an extraordinary audience of enthusiasts, connoisseurs and the curious. The personal exchange, for example at the get-together in the festival cafeteria between and after the concerts, creates the incomparable atmosphere of this short festival.

Mozart! – Streichquartettfest 2023

The Heidelberger Frühling Streichquartettfest 2023 focused on the string quartets of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, mirrored by works of Mozart's contemporaries and composers of our time. Six young international top quartets were guests: Armida Quartet, Chaos String Quartet, Consone Quartet, Leonkoro Quartet, Marmen Quartet and Quatuor Voce. Oliver Wille, professor of string chamber music at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, led the workshops.
