Feininger Trio

Tue 19. 4. 2022
19:30

The Feininger Trio - from the ranks of the Berliner Philharmoniker - follows in its concert the distinctively Russian genre tradition of memorial works: Dmitri Shostakovich responded with his second piano trio to the death of musicologist friend Ivan Sollertinsky, Arensky with his first to that of Russian cellist Karl Davydov. Only Rachmaninoff is different: there are two »elegiac« trios by him, and only the second looks back (to Tchaikovsky). The one-movement first, on the other hand, celebrates youthful passion.
