Since 2011, the Lied Academy under the artistic direction of Thomas Hampson has established itself as an annual meeting place for classically trained young singers and pianists. What initially began as a highly condensed course program as part of the International Music Festival Heidelberger Frühling has developed into a year-round, multi-layered in-depth program in the field of Lied. In the meantime, the Lied Academy offers the current year of scholarship holders several work phases with varying artistic focuses and impulses from renowned lecturers. The Lied Academy during Neuland.Lied concludes the program of the current year.

In addition to the core task of supporting the artistic maturation process of the young artists through subject-specific courses, these offerings, which go beyond the traditional master class, represent another decisive concern of the Lied Academy: to give the young artists a platform for exchange, to make their needs and concerns regarding the Lied genre heard, and to prepare a forum for their approaches and courageous ideas for implementation. The June work phase focuses on intensive artistic coaching with Thomas Hampson, the lecturers Susan Manoff and Daniel Gerzenberg, as well as inspiring exchange with other artists of the festival and important actors in the Lied scene.
