The Yiddish Cabaret

Sun 27. 3. 2022

»Our grandparents spoke Yiddish behind closed doors, and Yiddish music is rooted in the memories of our childhood« says Ori Kam, violist of the Jerusalem Quartet. The musicians also want to present Jewish humor: Broadway and varieté would be unthinkable without the influence of (emigrated) Jewish artists, their mixture of wordplay and irony, profundity and lightness. Leonid Desyatnikov's songs revive this tradition and take us back in time: to Yiddish life in Warsaw in 1920.
