The Musikfestival awarded a Carte Blanche to four artists and ensembles: Rakhi Singh, Manchester Collective, Igor Levit and Thomas Quasthoff and Shawn & the Wolf. Freed from the pressure of having to present a program fixed long in advance, the performers were allowed to decide spontaneously what they want to play.

For the audience, it was the chance to engage with the charisma and skill of the artists without expectations or preconceptions. Igor Levit lived the principle in his digital house concerts 2020.
