Architecture & Music with Christoph Sietzen & The Wave Quartet

EMBL's Advanced Training Center, completed in 2010, serves as a conference and exhibition building for the European Molecular Biology Laboratory. Analogous to the building pattern of all life, the DNA, the architects Bernhardt + Partner have designed the spectacular building structure in accordance with the geometrical Basic structure of the double helix designed. The form here not only follows the function of the building, it gives a direct indication of it. At the concert with star percussionist Christoph Sietzen and the Wave Quartet, there will be an opportunity to acoustically explore the rarely accessible complex. A related short lecture and expert discussion with Prof. Jörg H. Gleiter (Professor of architectural theory/Technische Universität Berlin) will explore, among other things, the question of whether a "speaking" architecture can awaken a new interest in conceivably abstract subject matter.
"Architecture & Music" is an event launched in 2017 on the initiative of Heidelberger Frühling and real estate entrepreneur Andreas Epple.
