FEIERabend: Marialy Pacheco. Rhani Krija
Between Cuba and High Atlas

Eleven years ago, Moroccan percussionist Rhani Krija and Cuban pianist Marialy Pacheco met for the first time – and were immediately on the same wavelength personally and musically. Since then they are and make together "Marocuba". Marialy elicits Caribbean melodies full of fire, melancholy and tenderness from her grand piano, Rhani takes her musical thoughts and spins them further on his diverse percussion instruments. A lively dialogue ensues. Both are masters of their craft, by the way: she was the first woman to win the Montreux Jazz Festival's piano competition, and he has performed with such greats as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Al Di Meola and Sting.
