Festival Finale: Vilde Frang. B'Rock Orchestra

Vilde Frang fotografiert von Marco Borggreve

The name of the Belgian B'Rock Orchestra does not only refer to music of the baroque period. At the orchestras festival debut in Heidelberg, there is indeed music "in the old style" (by Alfred Schnittke), but also Green DNK by Pavel Karmanov, a tribute to the Ukrainian violinist Tatjana Grindenko (=GreenDNK). Together with Alexei Lubimov, she founded the first baroque orchestra of the USSR and, at the same time, commissioned and premiered Schnittke's Double Concerto with her first husband (Gidon Kremer). She is a link between old and new music in this program. Together with the Norwegian star violinist Vilde Frang, the historically informed orchestra dedicates itself to Robert Schumann's profound violin concerto. Lastly, the B'Rock musicians make Joseph Haydn's penultimate London Symphony swirl.
