With Kirill Gerstein, a great pianistic global player is coming to the Heidelberger Frühling. He combines the traditions of Russian, American and Central European music-making in himself, not only because of his biography. Starting with the rarely performed Piano Sonata by Igor Stravinsky, first performed in Donaueschingen in 1925, his musical journey continues to Austria-Hungary. Schubert's great C minor sonata is juxtaposed with the epochal B minor sonata by the visionary Franz Liszt. Two virtuoso Études by György Ligeti pay homage to the upcoming 100th birthday of this also native Hungarian.
