Mozarteumorchester Salzburg fotografiert von Nancy Horowitz

As a cellist, 34-year-old Jonathan Bloxham was a founding member of the renowned piano trio Busch Trio before deciding in 2015 to devote himself entirely to conducting. His first post as Assistant Conductor with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra was quickly followed by an international career. In his concert with the Mozarteum Orchestra, the stylistically accomplished Briton confronts two masterpieces of Viennese classical music with attractive string orchestra works by English composers. What unites them is their affectionate yet artful look back at earlier eras of history – in the form of lament songs, popular dances or traditional folk songs.
