Nikolai Lugansky fotografiert von Marco Borggreve

When Nikolai Lugansky plays the piano, he combines brilliant technique with transparent elegance and mastery of form. Just like his great role model Sergei Rachmaninoff, with whose piano works he has shone for years as a proven specialist, both live and on record. It is therefore no coincidence that Lugansky is invited to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the great Russian composer musically at the Heidelberg Frühling Musikfestival. Musikfestival. He draws an arc from the concertante Préludes op. 23 and Études-Tableaux op. 39, composed while still in Russia, to Rachmaninoff's very last solo piano work, the Corelli Variations, composed in American exile.

The concert is part of the program focus "Visionaries".
