The closing concert of the Lied Festival with friends and companions of Jörg Widmann sets the mood for the birthday of the composer, clarinettist, conductor and music enthusiast. The master's own compositions from a period of around 25 years meet classics by Schubert, Schumann and Bartók, whose tonalities are frequently echoed in Widmann's personal style. The juxtaposition makes it apparent how happily poetry, flashing imagination, and sheer delight in vocal and instrumental virtuosity complement each other in Widmann's work. It goes without saying that this preview must still conceal a few spontaneous surprises.
