In 1913, Lili Boulanger became the first woman to receive the prestigious Prix de Rome. Her music is often considered close to the Impressionists Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel - as are the two orchestral works on this evening. In turn, the orchestral songs of Joseph Marx appear late Romantic. This extraordinary vocal composer and his enchanting music should be rediscovered. Igor Stravinsky's "Petrushka" takes you to a cheerful fair, where very real life is intertwined with the play of puppets. The initial puppet show finally turns into a veritable tragedy.
The concert will also take place on March 22.
